Finding a suitable home when you have a disability can feel like an impossible task...
- That is why working with a Realtor® who is tuned into your issues and can see things through an accessibility lens is critically important.
- Someone who is constantly on the lookout for homes with barrier-free design features.
- Someone who can zero in on properties that meet your specific needs and not waste your time showing you homes that are not a good fit.
- Someone who understands the costs and practicalities of making a potential new home accessible.
Why I focus on accessible homes
My name is Iwona Vineham, and I focus on homes with barrier-free design features.
Several years ago, before I was a Realtor®, my sister gave birth to her son, Massimo, who has type 3 Cerebral Palsy. The family home did not meet Massimo’s needs, and so they began looking for a new one.
Unfortunately, the Realtor® they chose did not know what was needed to make a house accessible. After many unnecessary viewings, they were frustrated. None of the homes they saw could realistically be adapted for Massimo.
One of the reasons I became a Realtor® was to help other people looking for accessible homes avoid going through the same disheartening experience.
Everyone has different needs. That is why I start by getting to know you. I do not offer “cookie-cutter” advice. Any recommendations I make are based on a thorough understanding of what you are looking for in a new home.
I would be happy to offer you a free consultation.
Should you feel that you are not quite ready to engage a Realtor®, don’t worry… there is NO obligation. Our initial meeting is mainly to help you understand what steps you will need to follow to find a home that is a right fit for you.
